Shifting Perspective short extract

Shifting Perspectives

2020 | Dance Film

Shifting Perspectives is a short dance film inspired by a recently published conversation between two leaders in the field of synthetic biology (Sarah Richardson and Tom Knight) and their divergent approaches to working with microbial life.

Shifting Perspectives seeks to open a multivocal interdisciplinary dialogue across screendance, movement and synthetic biology. The film was developed during their Responsive Research Residency at Critical Path in Sydney, April and May 2020.

A collaboration with:
Sarah Pini (anthropologist/choreographer)
Jestin George (biolotechnologist)
Premiered at Australian national science week
“I will have spent my life trying to understand the function of remembering, which is not the opposite of forgetting, but rather its lining. We do not remember, we rewrite memory, much as history is rewritten. How can one remember thirst?”
