CONVERSATION CONTRAPTION | 2008 PREVIOUS WORK | NEXT WORK

The artworks included in the Conversation Contraption Event began with the concept of signals and the tales of technology within state forces. The formations of signalling first began with an interactive "Smoke Signal". Viewers type in their message and their text is transformed into smoke signals. Alongside the smoke signals, launch the "Dot-Dash-Dance Generator" (DDD-G). Where viewers type in their message, which then gets translated into morse code, and activates performers in spacesuits creating flag signals.

"The Conversation Contraption is a series of experiments, inventions and experiences using mechanized communication tools, personal interaction, and your own devices (talking!). The contraption entails tin cups on strings with tonal responses, secrets told through megaphones, and potluck exchange. Automatic response systems, the waveforms of speech, forgotten statements and recorded dialogue add to local and long distance exchange. Operate the contraption by engaging in impromptu dialogue, telematic communication and data streams." - Lucy H G
